How does the rubric-based grading work?

This is for the essay question feature to enabled AI feedback for rubric-based grading.

This feature is only available for Institution and Business plans.

Things to note:

  1. Please note that as currently the scoring is not linked to the knowledge base, you should add to the scoring criteria any specific information or facts that you want the student to utilise. The example below specifies the definitions of macronutrients and micronutrients that the students need to use.
  2. Limit of 2000 words for the essay submission by student and 2000 words for anything you type into the rubric.
  3. You can only choose one type of scoring rubric: scoring rubric/description OR scoring rubric with breakdown. Not both.
  4. You need to use a single language for the rubric and student response must be in the same language.
  5. Use more points to enable better scoring accuracy and feedback.
  6. Click save before you exit the page.

Types of rubrics supported:

There are 2 types of rubric supported.

1. Scoring rubric and description: this only requires to specify the criteria, the maximum score per criteria, and description of the criteria. It's important to be very specific on what you want for each criteria. It would be good to have at least 5 points per criteria, so that the student can receive a range of scores, based on the extent the student has met the criteria. Below is an example of scoring rubric and description.

2. Scoring rubric with breakdown: this would enable greater accuracy in the AI grading and feedback as you can specify what is the criteria to receive different scores. A range of at least 10 is generally a good practice.

Below is an example of scoring rubric with breakdown. You can add additional score ranges if needed.
